Fresh tracks in fresh snow

After a hard day’s work, what could be better than getting out in the fresh evening air?

Some prefer freshly groomed slopes for carving. For others, happiness is an intense effort followed by an exhilarating descent, off the beaten track, in fresh powdery snow.

If you’re one of the latter, try ski touring. After climbing the mountain on skis, remove the skins from underneath them and glide down the valley through the magnificent snowy landscape.
Have a look at the suggestions below.

WARNING:
Ski touring is an activity that involves a certain amount of risk. Please ensure that you have adequate knowledge and ability before going out on your own. And if you feel uncertain about going it alone, a professional will be happy to advise and guide you on how to hike safely.

IN SPRING

early opening

From spring onwards, depending on snow conditions, the resort offers early opening of certain ski lifts before the official opening to the public.

Ski tourers setting off from Le Châble or Verbier to head for Rosablanche or the Haute Route Chamonix-Zermatt can use certain lifts before the resort officially opens.

However, each participant must sign a waiver, as the ski area is not yet secured.

Night skitours

Warning danger!

Night skitours on the slopes are extremely dangerous and forbidden.

The snow grooming machines are towed by a cable of more de 1,000 meters which can be stretched and whip the air brutally. These cables are invisible at night, and a collision with one of them can be fatal.

The region's resorts alternately offer touring evenings during which the preparation of the slopes is delayed. There are also alternatives to train at night without risking your life or disturbing the work done on ski domains.
