La Planie
Ruinettes – La Croix-de-Cœur
If you are looking for a really scenic walk, choose this one. It starts just below the cable car station (Les Ruinettes).
The track is closed to traffic, making it perfect for family outings on foot, cycling or even with a buggy. There is an unlit but perfectly passable tunnel halfway along.
You’ll find benches along the way, where you can stop and admire the amazing panoramic view over Verbier and the surrounding mountains. At the far end of the track, you can enjoy a well-earned rest at the La Croix-de-Coeur restaurant, open from June to October.
The Verbier 3-D Foundation organises an exhibition of photographs along the La Planie route. This comprises cabins and posters, which offer an insight into the artists’ process of research and creativity. The 3-D parc, situated between Les Ruinettes and La Chaux, is worth a visit, too.
To return to Verbier, you can go back along the same path and take the cable car down from Les Ruinettes, or you could continue to the top of the Savoleyres lifts (+100 m climb) and take the cable car down from there. For a more adventurous option, you can walk back down to Verbier via Les Planards and the Carrefour road (-419 m descent).
