Launched in 2019, and then cancelled in 2020 owing to health-related restrictions, Verbier Freeride Days will take place again on 4 and 5 December. This event, organised by Téléverbier, ESS Verbier, Les Guides de Verbier and the Freeride World Tour, and with support from the Valais Avalanche Accident Prevention Group (Groupe Prévention Accidents Avalanches Valais), is 100% dedicated to accident prevention and training.
With the Bagnes resort famous for its off-piste skiing, it is important to reiterate the importance of this event in order to raise awareness among people and train them on topics concerning off-piste skiing. The aim is of course to ensure that off-piste skiing is practised in the safest way possible.
The modules will be led by mountain professionals and cater for all levels of knowledge, from beginners to experienced individuals. Resort ambassadors will be at the event to speak about their experience of the mountains and how they prepare for a day of off-piste skiing or hiking.
Participants will have the chance to visit an event village in La Chaux, featuring information stands, a presentation of off-piste skiing equipment (skis and snowboards) and rescue equipment.
In the morning, croissants and hot beverages will be served in Médran Café. After a day on the slopes, there will be a happy hour (between 4pm and 6pm) for everyone who took part in the event.
