In Verbier, a joint initiative by Summit Foundation and the municipality of Val de Bagnes is turning hiking into an environmental activity. Since 17 July, a Clean-Up Box has been set up at the entrance to the Les Ruinettes cable cars.
The idea behind it is simple:
- Borrow a rubbish grabber and a 17-litre bag;
- Pick up any rubbish you find along your route;
- Sort it at the recycling points located at the end of the route;
- Take the grabber with you on your future outings.
The initiative aims to encourage hikers to take targeted action that benefits the environment and to promote more responsible tourism.
🗓️ The Clean-Up Box is available all summer; see the opening hours of the area. The Box is a great way for individuals to give back to the mountains a little of what they offer us.
